WHY?
People with periods can spend up to 10 years menstruating over their lifetime — yes, a full decade! The topic certainly deserves some deliberate, dedicated attention that’s both positive and community-based. Our aim with this workshop is to 1) increase kids’ knowledge of how to deal with periods confidently and effectively, 2) debunk myths while challenging negative attitudes surrounding menstruation, and 3) reduce any shame or fear kids may have about this amazing bodily superpower!
WHO IS IT FOR?
Kids ages 9-12 who will be getting their period soon, have recently gotten their period, or just want to learn more about periods. All genders welcome. This is a Live Online Class via Zoom OR a drop-off workshop in Rhinebeck, NY (pre- and post-pandemic).
WHAT WILL WE LEARN, DISCUSS & DO?
- Basic biology review
- Product show & tell (there are so many more options than what gets covered in school)
- Period hacks for symptoms and related issues (PMS, cramps, leakage, etc)
- Short video screenings that challenge negative attitudes about periods and positively reframe the experience
- Fun & empowering craft project
- Q & A session (anonymous if preferred)

If you have a group of 7 or more kids, we can schedule a private Period Party at a time & date that suits your group’s needs.
Online workshops are held via Zoom. In-person workshops are usually held in Rhinebeck, NY (address of state-of-the-art meeting space sent upon registration), though we are happy to take our workshops on the road for private groups.
